J 1 - Jazz a capella for vocal groups (4 – 12 singers)
J 2 – Jazz for vocal groups with instrumental accompaniment (4 – 12 singers, without apparatus)
K – Folklore
K 1 – folklore a capella for children's and boys' choirs (S, A) up to 16 years of age
K 2 – folklore a capella for youth and adult choirs
K 3 – folklore with instrumental accompaniment for children's choirs
K 4 – folklore with instrumental accompaniment for youth and adult choirs
Special Categories:
L - Competition in fast practice (practice of unknown composition in 10 minutes)
X - Not contesting choirs – participating as spectators, may sing in a concert, masses

COMPETITION RULES
MUNDI CANTANT
- the contest is open for non-professional choirs
- one choir may take part in more categories of the competition
- there is no limit as to the number of singers, save for the G - chamber choir categories (max. 24 singers), E - adult choirs (min. 25 singers) and J - jazz vocal groups (4 - 12 singers)
- age limitation: singers must not reach the age that is given in the competition category as of the day of competition
- the choir sends one copy of scores of the contest compositions, the copies of scores are not returned, they are supposed to stay in the festival archive
- the programme the choir sent cannot be changed
- no acoustic rehearsal performance is allowed to be done at Competition Venues
- the time limit for the categories of children´s choirs is 10 minutes of clear singing time
- the time limit for the categories of youth and adult choirs is 15 minutes of clear singing time
- in the case of the given time limit being surpassed the jury will terminate the contest performance of the choir
- all the competition categories shall perform one composition a capella
- categories H are only for compositions a capella
- categories F must include only works from living Czech composers of classical music born after 1920
- in all categories the singing is expected without a microphone and other devices
- according to the number of gained points the jury will award:
gold medals 90 – 100 points
silver medals 75 – 89 points
bronze medals 60 – 74 points
- besides the point classification, the jury shall not issue any other written evaluation of the choir performance
